Formed in 2019, Colores United was birthed over intense conversation amongst friends about the validity of “Deming being the poorest city in New Mexico”. There are those that choose to believe and live it, and there are those that choose to change it – we are those who choose to make changes. There are many positive programs within our town, county, and state that are making tremendous strides. Adding Colores United to ongoing positive efforts only increases the strength of our community.
We believe the key to our community being able to live their lives to the fullest is by focusing on a proper balance between the body, mind and soul. Every Colores United program also weaves Trauma Informed Practices into the basis of each to ensure we are remembering that those we serve, come in an array of healing stages.
We serve our community.
Whether it is food, clothing, toiletries, or advocacy, we ensure that our community members have what they need for basic care to continue on their journey.
We serve those who are just beginning to build their American Dream.
Our country is founded by the immigrant. We know that the dream they believe in begins with a new country, a fresh dream and lots of hard work! We assist the immigrant, the refugee, the migrant and those that may have come to a crossroads in their journey.
We embrace the Arts.
Art, music, dance and expression of one's culture is both imperative to a rounded self and assists those who do so to heal. We provide the space, the instructors and the tools to help our community create and grow!
We teach independence through food.
Our Culinary Arts program is for the individual that wants a full immersive course with on-the-job training in a functioning diner. Themed as a 1950's diner, this community-based restaurant is more than food - it is learning.
